Now eight weeks into its broadcast life, KTWH community radio is planning to celebrate its existence with a day of special programming on Thursday, November 12, including the debut broadcast of last winter’s Cabin Fever Reliever Variety Show. The timing was chosen to coordinate with the statewide Give to the Max day of charitable giving.
The five morning show hosts, who usually take one morning each from 7am to 9am, will instead each take a two hour shift in succession that day. Each will share their respective areas of interest and musical tastes as they do on their regular weekly shifts, as well as playing examples of programming offered throughout the week by the wide variety of both local and outside programs. Besides a day of low key on-air fundraising pitches for community radio on KTWH interspersed among a wide range of programming, they also plan to share information about other local non-profits, hoping that listeners will indeed be “giving to the max” on November 12.
Running throughout the day will be a friendly competition for who among the hosts can raise the most funds through both the Give to the Max website (GiveMn.org) and KTWH’s own website (ktwh.org), or from walk-in donations at the studio.
A highlight of the day will be the inaugural broadcast of the wildly popular Cabin Fever Reliever Variety Show produced last winter at the Harbor Theater in Two Harbors. The show was both a fundraiser for Two Harbors Community Radio and a chance to showcase our local talent and preview things you will hear on KTWH. The show played to an enthusiastic sold-out crowd on a cold February night. The two hour show will be run as excerpts throughout the day on November 12, and will also be broadcast in its entirety on the evening of Saturday, November 14, from 7pm to 9pm.
The centerpiece of the Cabin Fever show was a production by the local No-see-um Radio Theater troupe, A Stranger in the House, a reenactment of a 1940’s radio production. This debut of local live radio drama will be featured between 6pm and 7pm on the 12th, including commentary by the actors who took part.
November 12 will be a day to showcase the variety of programming aired throughout the week on KTWH at 99.5FM and streamed at ktwh.org, and to celebrate the wide range of non-profits working on behalf of all of us in the Two Harbors area.
We are making changes in our schedule as we go along, it might be a while before it stabilizes, but nothing drastic either. See the October update here:

You may view the KTWH program schedule below as well as a very brief description of the local programs and some of the non-local programs. Space does not allow for all the outside programs, but the music show titles are mostly self-explanatory.
In general, weekdays are a morning show from 7am to 9am, each morning with a different host and flavor. This is followed by music shows until noon, then community events for five minutes or so at noon. This is followed by 2 hours of talk and informational shows, including programs about books, public affairs, etc, including – most importantly! – a half hour of stories for little kids from 12:30 to 1:00pm.
From 2:00 to 6:00 is generally music programming from outside but unique sources, not heard elsewhere on the radio dial in our area. At 6:00 we repeat the community events announcements, and evenings are music shows hosted and curated by local programmers.

Youth-produced programs include Will’s Sports Wrap, a summary of recent and upcoming sports events in our community by Will Peterson, and The High School Show by Dale Peterson (no relation) – an update on happenings at the high school and some of Dale’s favorite music. These both run early Friday afternoons. If you want to bet on the sports events in this community, sites like 벳위즈 may be worth checking out.
Weekends include repeats of several of our programs, especially local ones, giving you more of a chance to hear things you would like, or to listen again to those especially good shows. Our music spans many different genres, so if you don’t like what you are hearing, try us at another time. You will certainly find something you like!
Yes, we ARE going on-air this Sunday! We hope you can join us at the Harbor Landing building, 7th and 7th, to hear some great local music, have some good snacks, and record your greeting to the community. You can also stream at ktwh.org of course!

Meanwhile KTWH on-air will be interspersing radio-themed music with short interviews of many of our programmers to get a sense of who they are and what they will be doing. Music in the atrium is not being broadcast, but each of the performers will be interviewed on-air as well. The entire afternoon’s broadcast will be recorded for broadcast at some future time. So come to the open house, and listen to the broadcast at a later time – we would like to see you here!

KTwH will be testing its on-air signal using a three hour sample of upcoming programming. Tune in at 99.5fm between about 10:00am and 6:00pm on Saturday July 11!
We will air pre-recorded samplings of programs as well as you and your neighbors giving our station ID between segments. It will be about a 3 hour loop, repeated through the day. Be sure to check us out and let us know where you can hear us! After several months of the “Raise the Antenna” fundraising campaign over this past winter, KTWH’s antenna is finally raised! Friday June 5, Four Star Construction of Superior climbed the tower we are using and fixed our antenna atop, which will broadcast KTWH’s 100 watt signal to Two Harbors and environs.
This step brings us measurably closer to getting on-air this summer. Remaining steps include connecting the antenna to the studio in the Harbor Landing building with the fiber optic network and completing training of the volunteer programmers on board so far. Programs are already being recorded in the studio, samples of which can be heard on the Listen tab of this website and under Radio News.
THCR/KTWH still welcomes more program proposals and always will. The station is being created to be the voice of Two Harbors, its seasonal residents and visitors. Applications submitted now might not be ready to go on-air when the station first start up, but training will be on-going and there will be slots available in the schedule.
Until KTWH’s schedule is filled with local programming, we will also offer unique programming from other community radio stations across the country, things you don’t hear anywhere else on the local FM radio dial. KTWH will offer Two Harbors a distinctive sound and new listening experiences, and we expect to stream our programming online as well.
Although the antenna is successfully raised, fundraising will be an ongoing endeavor. Annual memberships are now available beginning at $60/year, the premium for which will be a newly designed T-shirt commemorating our inaugural year. All donations are appreciated and may be made at the Donations page of this site (soon to be updated with this year’s membership premiums), or sent to PO Box 622, Two Harbors, 55616. Membership premiums will be available at our Heritage Days booth this July. And there will be underwriting opportunities for local businesses and organizations.
