Support KTWH and win a kayak!
The featured prize for supporting the local low-powered radio station is a Necky Sky kayak, donated by Two Harbors resident Joyce Helin. An ongoing silent auction for the gently used 9′ craft including paddle at THCR’s Heritage Days booth will culminate this Sunday the 13th at noon. Bidders may track the current bid on THCR’s Facebook page but should make their starting bid in person.
Silent auction bids may be viewed on the Facebook page at the end of each day.
This week’s Heritage Days celebration and next week’s Chalk.a.lot Sidewalk Art Festival will provide followers of the coming radio station in Two Harbors with opportunities to show their support and not go away empty-handed.
Two Harbors Community Radio (THCR) will have booths at both events, where their striking new mugs sporting their logo and website address, KTWH.org, will be available as premiums for donations to the summer Station-Builder Fundraising Drive.
Other premiums include buttons, again with their logo and website, made by Judy Olson, and CDs and LPs by local musicians of regional and national acclaim, Georganne Hunter and Trampled by Turtles.

THCR has already received support from the LaBounty Fund of the Two Harbors Area Community Fund, getting the equipment fund off to a great start with a $5,000 grant. That is about 20% of the total needed for the equipment budget. Grants from the Coop Light & Power’s Round-up Program and Northland Foundation’s Age-to-Age program are being put to other uses.
THCR, an IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit, was awarded a construction permit from the FCC in February to start a 100 watt FM station to serve the Two Harbors area community. They are currently fundraising for the equipment needed to go on-air while working out of donated office space in the Harbor Landing building at 7th Avenue and 7th Street. They may be contacted at THCommradio@gmail.com, via their website KTWH.org, and at 834-2247. Better yet, stop by the Heritage Days and Chalk.a.lot booths to meet some radio-active volunteers and show your support.
