***Short Note to Literally listeners: CLICK HERE***

October 18, 2021 we began a new book, Tom Koehler’s reading of Dean Hovey’s Whistling Sousa, another of Hovey’s light-hearted mysteries set in a Two Harbors senior residential facility. This one includes the Two Harbors City Band and the Lake County fair in the story! The next 5 episodes will be posted here on Monday October 25. Thank you for your patience!

Tune in every weekday from 1:00 to 1:30 to hear novels, short stories and nonfiction written by local and regional authors as well as classics you may have forgotten or never got around to reading.  Help is here for your “So many books, So little time Syndrome.”

Here is a little summary of the thoughts behind the creation of this show and the main intentions of having this type of show on the air…..

Reading shows were a mainstay of radio in days gone by.  Currently there is still a show on Wisconsin Public Radio with the title “A Chapter A Day” which has been on the air since 1931!  We modeled Literally From The North Shore on this type of reading show and others from the past.

Our readings will come from 3 general categories – novels, non-fiction, and short stories and encompass many genres.  We are not trying to target any certain listener demographic.  It is not intended to be a show for kids although many presentations are kid friendly. As of our rebooting of Literally as of March, 2021, we are especially focused on books about the North Shore of Lake Superior and Northeastern Minnesota.

We hope you enjoy this show and that Literally From The North Shore will become part of your radio listening day.  We would be delighted if you would spread the word to your family and friends, AND if you contact us with your feedback. What kinds of books would you most like to hear? Would you like to work on the series with a team of volunteers?
