The Gales of November: An Oral History. The hour-long program features excerpts of conversations with four experienced Lake Superior ore boat sailors: Cedric Woodard, the late Captain Bob Libby, Jule Salveson and Ross Leroy (photo not shown). They discuss life on the Great Lakes ore boats, what it’s like to be on the lakes in storms with 30′ waves, and their respective impressions of what might have happened the fateful night in 1975 when the Edmund Fitzgerald disappeared in a gale of November. [Narrated by Jane Thimke, produced by Fran Kaliher; originally broadcast November, 2023]
